Video Game Remakes That You Wish For

Tomba

What are some video game remakes that you wish for a developer to remake? If you have been playing games for longer than two generations of consoles releases, there is most likely a franchise on one generation console that has not been remade for the next generation. Such has how Shadow of The Colossus has been released on the Playstation 2, but has no hopes of a remake on the much more powerful Playstation 3. There is a game that pretty much many experienced gamers will have that they wish remade, but I am personally looking further back into the Playstation 1 era.

During that time, when games were fairly new in the 3D world, they had a lot of potential. Video Games with fun concepts such as jungle running, beat ‘em ups and more. There are some games that I think, if remade with top notch quality, would easily become an AAA title. One game that I particularly remember playing and enjoying a lot was Tomba. Now I know I will receive some flak for this, but Tomba, for those of you who do not know, is a pink haired jungle running guy who attacked pigs if I remember correctly. You may be asking, where is the fun in that? But if you look back on your past, you may find that you tend to find the earlier games you played to be amazing compared to what you play now. SImply because a change in tastes.

But anyway, imagine what could be done to that game with all the power that video game consoles have to offer now? Tomba could easily be translated from the stale 2D side scrolling environment that it was once in, and be placed into a lush 3D tropical world with amazing detail and a variety of monsters to attack. It would not be that hard to be able to come up with a fighting system, nor some exclusive features. But this is just one of the games that I know I liked while I was younger, and I would not mind seeing a remake of.

But two of possibly most wanted games to have a remake are easily Final Fantasy 7 and Golden Eye 64. Final Fantasy 7 is one of the most popular Final Fantasy games, released on the Playstation 1. One of the reasons it is held in such high regard is the fact that a main character dies, which is one of the most unexpected plot twists to enter the video gaming industry. Being considered one of the best Final Fantasy, or possibly one of the best games of all time period, Square Enix even teased about a remake when showing of a Playstation 3 tech demo. Golden Eye 64 is one of the best praised Nintendo 64 titles there are, for its amazingly fun multiplayer components. A game has not been able to match how fun it has been since. Even today, people have been requesting for Rare to release a remake onto Xbox Live or the Playstation Network. But sadly, due to licensing issues, they are not able to release a remake.

There are honestly a great amount of video games that deserve a remake, too many to count. But due to the changed focus of style in gaming, the older school story lines wills imply not fit. But maybe in the future, the Video Game industry will see a return to its roots, where you see older and familiar games making a come back into the video gaming scene, with a new and improved feature list.

I thought “Agent USA” would be a great remake. Its a simple game where you get to travel throughout the USA trying to find the “fuzz bomb”. I played it on the C64 but I have not seen it on any other platforms. It would be great as a flash game and on top of the entertainment you actually get to know the big cities of the USA. As a matter of fact it could be remade using countries of the world and used in schools to teach the kids where all the countries are.
