Vanquish Gameplay Impressions Part II

Vanquish
SEGA’s Vanquish has had yet another gameplay video arise on the internet via YouTube, which allows for a second dose of impressions.
As you may have read from my previous Vanquish gameplay impressions, the game seems to be attempting to implement all of the popular features in an action-adventure game into itself. This latest gameplay video seems to confirm this. This video shows off the primitive, yet apparently useful cover system that is put into use by your character. Although you do not appear to be able to wall bounce, you can clearly hop over the area when finished using it. One should question how fluid the transitions into boosters can be. In theory, you should be able to hop over the area of cover and go straight into your boost to allow for fluid movement, if done correctly.
The fast paced nature of gameplay is also clearly displayed here. This is certainly a game that will impress many hard core gamers, as seen when the main characters is engaging in battle with a mecha. The mecha shoots out an eye-laser of some sort, and the character dodge rolls under it, transitions into the booster and then catches a melee combo that knocks the mecha backwards.
The third person shooting element of this game is also depicted. The shooting actually seems a bit stale, in my opinion. There is neither spread nor recoil that effects the weapons. So you are essentially shooting in a straight line, at your enemies, from whatever distance. While I understand this game is not a shooting simulation, I would still personally like some accuracy within the shooting system instead of having it dumbed down for easy use.
There are some popular and early complains arising about the game composition already. People are making complaints about the HUD being too intrusive on the action. It apparently seems to be taking up too much of the spac,e which can be troublesome for some gamers who like to have the HUD enabled.
SEGA’s Vanquish, an action adventure epic, is shaping up to be quite an interesting take on the action genre, and may end up branching off into a popular franchise, keep your eyes open for it.
