Ubisoft Halts Constant Internet Connection Requirement

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Ubisoft’s latest anti-piracy measures have been the bane of many a gamers existence. It required a constant internet connection in order to play a game, which sent many gamers into rage who were disconnected. Word has it that Ubisoft will now only require players to be connected to the game at start-up.

The constant DRM checks on popular games such as Assassin’s Creed 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction have been curbed, according to PC Gamer. The checks will now only be required on start up and not throughout the whole game. Now if your internet connection is lost in the middle of a game, your gameplay will not be interrupted. Definitely a plus for the masses of raging gamers who felt shut out and disrespected at Ubisoft’s insensitive and totalitarian implementations.
In response to Ubisoft’s policy, earlier this year, hackers had field day on DRM servers, causing them to shut down and freezing PC gamers. Ubisoft has since responded by offering free game downloads for those whom were shut out of the game.  But is that gift alone enough to make up for the hours of frustration that thousands of fans had with this service for months on end? You tell us.
