The Xbox Live Community Mature Level

Xbox 360

Xbox 360

Having been apart of the general Xbox Live community for over a year now, I have experienced pretty much everything that one could expect to while playing online. The over all maturity of the community is a bit shaky though.

On first impression, you will find that people are generally loud and out going. But this can change depending on multiple factors. Let me be the first to say that you will run into a racist one in every five matches, which is pretty sad. Even if they are not racist, they will act it if they begin to lose or simply get angry. So your experience will be altered depending on whether you are good at the game or not, and based on your race, assuming that you will actually make use of your mic. Though that is not to say that Xbox Live is completely bad.

Personally, you will be better off playing with friends that you know in real life so that you do not have to deal with some annoying team mates. I have played with people who were cool with me, since I was actually good at the game, until they heard me speak. Then when they found out my race, they literally became uncooperative and quit the team, even though I am pretty quiet and I am not obnoxious like most of the other players over Xbox Live.

Playing with my friends over Xbox Live, I have noticed that the common thing is for people to use the racist N word immediately at the sight of something unpleasant to them. My general party consists of many races, being Asian, black, white, Spanish and the likes. But once they hear one person, they tend to call the party a n____ party, which can be pretty annoying. Considering that a lot of the racists I hear over Xbox Live are some 10 year old video gamers who should not be allowed to play the rated M game that they are playing.

But there is also good people to play with while playing over Xbox Live as well. Not everyone you will encounter will be as immature as the general community that you will run into. There have been cases where I do not have a full party and we happen to play with one guy who is actually cool and laid back, and does not take the game too seriously. There are some people who you will hear cursing non-stop if they get killed or lose the match, which is pretty pathetic. There are some people who you will feel like you can make friends with instantly, and there are those who will instantly annoy you.

Over all, I am not that fond of the Xbox Live community or their maturity level. When playing, unless I am with my friends or in a full party, I will not even have my mic plugged into my Xbox 360 controller, simply because I do not feel like dealing with the crap that is dished out by the ignorant players in this community.
