Shinji Mikami Disappointed In God Hand

God Hand

God Hand was one of the latest titles released by Capcom and Clover Studio. Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, designed the game and now feels regret for the direction he took.

It was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2006, and God Hand had fairly positive reviews, mixed in with a couple of mixed reviews. Many of the players of this video game liked the humor and intense over the top action and violence in the game. Shinji Mikami says that he has released a lot of titles before and he feels, with God Hand in particular, that he was given too much freedom to make the game as he liked. He says that is the reason it did not sell too well, he told Edge in a recent interview.

This over the top game allowed for players to knee enemies in their groin and knock them into outer space with a baseball bat. This game has quite the interesting storyline as well as action that is sure to make it stand out as one of the better PlayStation 2 games out there. Such as how you can link your combo’s together to knock your enemy into the air and then kick them across the map into a building or something.

Mikami is now working on a science fiction third-person shooter called Vanquish for Sega and Platinum Games. He goes on to say that the development team is going for something that will appeal to the mass market and a wider audience. A bigger one than God Hand had. Platinum and Sega knew that these were the points that they needed to address from the beginning and Vanquish will be a result of this.

So apparently, Vanquish is going to be Shinji Mikami putting less of his personal touch onto the game and more of the widespread desires. Apparently God Hand was not mainstream enough.
