Sony has been stressing the genesis of 3D gaming, with some of the PlayStation 3 games being made available starting tomorrow.

Sony PlayStation’s boss, Jack Tretton, spoke out at an event in Los Angeles regarding 3D games on the PS3. These games, according to Kotaku, will be rendered in stereoscopic 3D and require a 3D TV coupled with glasses in order to acquire the full popping out experience.

These 3D games will be arriving to the PlayStation 3 as early as tomorrow, with games such as Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD, Pain and the MotorStorm Pacific Rift demo. The Stardust and Wipeout 3D versions will be available as a free update for those who already own the games.

Gran Turismo 5 and MLB The Show 10 was also shown in 3D as well, although no release dates have been mentioned yet. The first 3D motion controlled game will be “The Fight: Lights Out”, which will be playable in 3D from launch.

Starting tomorrow, anyone that buys a Sony Bravia 3D TV will get four 3D PS3 games and demos.

As for gamer reactions? Many are disappointed in the sudden shift towards 3D gaming. Even Killzone 3 has announced support for this innovative feature. Many gamers are hoping for the option to be able to toggle the 3D effect. Having to purchase a 3D TV and glasses just to enjoy the effect is really taking away urge to become apart of this movement. 3D TV’s are quite expensive, and I doubt that many people are going to buy that TV for the sole purpose of playing on their PS3.

On a lighter note, it is fairly nice to begin to think about what can be accomplished with 3D effects. For those of you who take trips to the movies often, you may be aware of how 3D effects can seriously immerse you within the movie, especially with action packed and debris filled movies. For a game like Killzone 3, I would not be surprised if rockets or bullets would fly out of the screen as you are playing. Or in The Fight: Lights Out, if you punch your enemy and blood spills out of the screen. These are all very interesting and hardly experienced effects that can bring a lot to the table in terms of innovation and player immersion.

The event that Jack Tretton, the PlayStation boss, is speaking at is still in session, and new information may come out as we speak, so stay tuned. Also, be ready to possibly begin purchasing your PlayStation 3 games in 3D.
