The Nintendo 3DS is going to have its own standalone cartridge, as revealed at the Los Angeles E3 gaming expo.
The Nintendo 3DS cartridge hones a 2GB capacity, far greater than that of the Nintendo DS cartridge.
It is speculated that this cartridge was designed with the goal of halting piracy in mind. It is well known that anyone can hack their Nintendo DS, easily and without much knowledge required. There are people who actually buy the DS with the sole intent and purpose of just hacking it, to have a complete library of games at their beckon.
The key speculation going around is revolving about Nintendo’s attempt to prevent the widespread piracy in the fan-base, with the release of their new Nintendo 3DS cartridge.
