Modern Warfare 2 Sniper Troubles

Modern Warfare 2
It seems that the snipers playing over Xbox Live in Modern Warfare 2 are facing some trouble in the beginning stages of their classes or gun usage. There does not seem to be a reason for sniping any more, many gamers are thinking, because pretty much every gun is so steady that it can easily out shoot you while trying to go for the kill.
Snipers are still a great gun to use, allowing you to one shot kill your target at pretty much any point of the body, depending on their distance from you. If you are sniping across the map, you may find that you have to take two shots to get the kill, but generally it is one shot one kill. So you may be wondering, what is the problem then? Well, for one, the maps in Modern Warfare 2 are very different than the ones that were in Call of Duty 4. You are in very open areas with little room to pick a spot and snipe in, most likely a maneuver by Infinity Ward to lessen the amount of camping that you will run into. So this means that pretty much the best spots you will find are behind a wall, rock, or car.
So besides having trouble finding a good spot where you can snipe at a safe point, you also have the problem of the amazingly steady automatic guns that you will encounter. Pretty much anyone with a submachine gun, light machine gun or even assault rifle will be able to target you and kill you with ease from a fairly long distance. Simply because every gun is so amazingly steady while shooting, for the better or worse.
That is not to say that sniping is a completely useless attempt in Modern Warfare 2, on the contrary. It just takes much more skill to snipe than before. You may find that you will need to make use of an attachment on the gun in order to go on killing rampages. I personally will make use of the bling perk, then slap on a thermal and heartbeat sensor attachment, and I will be good to go with that. That way, you can easily pinpoint any enemies you may see across the map at any distance, and you will have a radar where you can easily see wherever your enemies are within a close radius.
It takes much more creativity for the sniper to survive in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer games, though some will have ease sniping simply because they are a quick shot and have great aim. I am just noting my experience while playing over Xbox Live, so you may disagree or agree with me.

i totally agree with you about the sniper class being somewhat useless. I feel that it should have been a trade off, losing full automatic for a weapon with dynamic range. Whats more the attachments are rendered useless as well. The silencer cuts your range down terribly to the point that only a headshot will kill the opponent. The thermal scope is nice but at a distance the slightly wider crosshairs can throw off a shot as well as it can be hard to see someone if the background is white as well. the acog scope would be great but the sniper cant hold his breathe. It also seems that the full metal jacket is less effective for a sniper when i cant even fire through tin.where as on other guns there is no need. i also feel that alot of the perks are useless as well. I feel that the sniper class has been nerfed because the were considered the “camper” class but like i said you trade run and gun for one shot one kill. The way i saw it was like this is it bad on me that i killed a guy 5 times from the exact same spot, or bad on him for not taking me out 3 shots ago.
I agree with a mojority of this, but what frustrates me is that they had to make it harder for one shot one kill(s) in MW2, sometimes it even took me three consequetive shots to take down one guy. I used to be an amazing sniper in COD4, and I’ve always hated the ACOG users. Simply i feel as i might as well use ACOG for a .50 cal for the purpose of close range combat. Making the M16 rendered useless, even though a majority of people consider it the cheapest assault rifle in the game, practically a sniper itself. The sniper takes almost twice as much skill, due to the fact you lose every realistic element. Oftend now people just tend to rush the sniper first, while back then it usually took at least some decent time for them to come after you. An not to forget, about the M16 snipers, and what not trying to eradicate you. Even the claymores are broken down a bit so making the sniper almost vunerable from every direction.
I agree as well. I was so excited when I unlocked silencer and FMJ. I figured I’d be able to run Bling, remove Stopping Power and add cold blooded and ninja and be invisible but able to kill anyone. Boy was I wrong. Silencer makes the sniper rifle useless unless you’re wanting to fire about 20 feet away from you. FMJ seems to do so little extra damage that it’s not worth my time, and removing Stopping Power seems to make all the sniper rifles worthless unless you like to aquire your target 3 times to get 1 kill. FAL is the way to go as I see. Use FAL with Bling and add the Silencer and ACOG and you have a sniper rifle that takes 3 bullets to kill and is pretty accurate. All in all, snipers are dead in this game unless you like to run around in a ghille suit with khimbo shotguns. I hope they fix the sniper class in MW2 so all the perks help and don’t detract from the class.
Hi i totally disargee you have to be good which i am with the sniper i only use the intervetion and kill my good games are 2 deaths and about 45 or more kills this is no joke
I am using the sniper Intervention since FCP and till now MSG.
It is a great experience playing sniper, the tension, the satisfaction and the death in a second.
You are right to say that it is fastrasting to be killed by a light mc gun from a distance but then as you practice, you gets better.
Now I am usually ranked 4 in terms of kill in a game of domination.
Domination makes your life easier as you have a guess on where your enemy goes and then it al goes down to psycology.
Think like your enemy and you can get the first move
As a Sniper in MW2 (I got the perfectionist emblem), the trick is to think ahead of your enemy and be at places where you take an aim at them before they does on you. And never stay at the same place after a successful kill (killcam).
BTW, my way is still the sucky sniper way. take a look at this sniper god in MW2

Yeah, sniping is really frustrating in this game mainly due to the overly accurate and powerful assault rifles. An assault rifle can drop you across the whole map with just 2 shots. It’s easy to go 30-5 with an assault rifle, when even 10-8 might be a challenge with a sniper class in most maps. ACOG would be a great scope if only you could hold breath with it.
I love sniping in FPS games, and the ineffectiviness of sniping in this game is kind of killing it for me.
I actually think sniping is pretty effective in this game. I was really frusturated at first with how accurate the assault rifles were until I figured out how to hide in spots they just can’t see you in. My favorite combo is the M21 EBR with a silencer and the scavenger, cold-blooded, and ninja perks. The M21 takes two shots to kill anyone even without the silencer and it has very little recoil, making follow up shots much easier. The invisible on radar effect of the silencer comes second to the fact that it eliminates muzzle flash. What I like to do is lay in a patch of grass or bush with a good line of sight (the ghillie suit, if unlocked, makes seeing you even at very close range almost impossible), stay scoped in but keep blades of grass out of view so they have a harder time seeing my immediate surroundings via kill cam, and snipe the shit out of anyone who gets in my sights. If they’re farther away the follow up shot is harder and they may find cover. Keep watching and hold off on shooting when they peek out until they’re confident you are no longer there. Blast them once they completely move out of hiding have nowhere to run. I use this strategy often and have gotten nukes with it. The best part is when you kill a guy a couple of times and he starts shooting five feet to your left because he thinks that’s where you are. Or when they run right on top of you or throw grenades over your head only to be skewered by your knife. So I think quite the contrary to this post. Pure stealth, to me at least, is one of the most fun and satisfying ways to play this game. It’s just something about being able to outsmart a bunch of non AI opponents and remain hidden while you take them out that makes this style of play extremely rewarding.
