Modern Warfare 2

Recently, while playing Modern Warfare 2 over Xbox Live with some friends, we noticed that the matchmaking can be painfully slow when you are in a full party or playing at night. It is certainly something that we hope to see fixed or patched in the future.

Usually at night, since that is when we are all finished with whatever work that we have to do, we start a 6 man party and go trying to find team deathmatches to join. But we will be waiting up to 10 minutes or more just to find and enter one match. Most of the time, we will try to go matchmaking with a full party, just two or four people join, and then the game just sits there trying to find the last people to complete a full team to go against us. Apparently that small number of people can be hard to find.

I personally think that the MW2 matchmaking may be this slow simply because there are a  lot of people playing in parties in the game. I remember that while I was looking for a match to join, a party of four joined our match, and we were left looking for one person for well over 5 minutes until we gave up and just backed out. But this is not to say that it is like this for every match type. We usually are able to find Domination and Ground War matches relatively quickly.

I am not completely sure how Infinity Ward would go about fixing this, if they chose to do so. I doubt this will see any fixes simply because this is not a game breaking issue, unless enough people complained about it. Over time, there will probably be patches released for Modern Warfare 2 that may optimize the matchmaking, which would surely solve the issue of it being slow, but until then, I guess you just have to deal with it. It is not like this happens all the time anyway, when playing during populated hours, it takes us a couple of seconds to find a match to join.

Generally, the Matchmaking in Modern Warfare 2 is very smooth and fast. There have been times where I have been placed into the middle of a game in the blink of an eye. Or maybe it is my connection, at times, that makes the process so slow. Have you experienced a time in which your Modern Warfare 2 matchmaking has been a bit sluggish?
