Mass Effect 3 Finishes The Story Arc

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 3 has been expected for quite some time, since BioWare has implied for this video game series to be a trilogy. But now we have further insight, believing the next game to be the end of this story arc, although maybe not the IP itself.

Casey Hudson, the series project director, stated that Mass Effect 3 will be easier to develop and plan because the team does not have to worry about the continuity into a next one. So basically, the next game will close all loose ends and ties, not having to worry about carefully planning a story arc that does now allow for conflict when dealing with its sequel. So I doubt that was just a slip of the mouth, and it may be good or bad news for those of you Mass Effect fans.

However, since the Mass Effect series has earned itself such a great title and popularity in the video game industry, it is doubtful that they will drop the series altogether. They may decide to milk some more money out of this series, possibly by creating a new story arc revolving around a new set of characters in a different part of the universe or something. Everything is up for speculation currently, regarding the current story arcs ending and what may be to come of this IP.

So although you may be able to enjoy Shepard now, he may be gone sooner than you think. One other thing to look forward to is for Bioware to go out with a bang. Since this will be the end to Shepards story, this game may be the greatest one yet in the series, so the development team can make this story end with a bang. Most games try to achieve that, and I doubt that this video game will be any different, in terms of that goal. Mass Effect 2 is just coming out, though, which means that there will be a ton of time to speculate about Mass Effect 3.
