Left 4 Dead 2 against Resident Evil 5

Left 4 Dead 2
Comparing Valve’s Left 4 Dead 2 against Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 may be a difficult thing to do. Both are zombie killing games, one is a first person shooter while the other is a more action oriented third person shooter. The games are of a different feel and storyline, but the two are often compared and battling for the spot of best zombie shooter on the market. So how can you compare the two games, you may wonder?
The Left 4 Dead series has certainly left its impact on the video game industry, showing how a real zombie survival game should be made. You reprise your role as one of the four survivors in a group, and you take up arms traveling from safety house to safety house trying to make it out alive. You start off with a pistol and a select amount of weapons, such as a sub machine gun or a shot gun, and you mow down through countless enemies to get to your destination. This game can be pretty enjoyable, because an amazing amount of enemies come at you at once during a horde attack. It is especially interesting when you throw a ticking bomb and the zombies all horde around it, and then it explodes in close contact with them, making a pile of bloody mess. This game has some pretty interesting mechanics going on for it, and Valve is improving upon the game constantly, especially with the release of Left 4 Dead 2.
Resident Evil 5 is the latest entry into the video game series. It has been ridiculed for being too action packed and too little frightful. But the action is where this game shines a bit, offering you the ability to melee your enemies and use devastating weapons to dispatch them. You follow a storyline, and you have a partner with you in Africa, as you try to get to the bottom of this infestation to fix it. The graphics of this game are superb, and are one of its best qualities. The animation and motion blurs are a good touch, to make you feel more into the game, more engaged. Things can get a bit hectic when multiple enemies are coming at you and you are running low on ammo.
These two games, as you see, are very different games, so the only thing you can really compare is graphics and the over all experience. Left 4 Dead has Resident Evil beat in terms of the over all gaming experience. The multiplayer in L4D, I am sure, is definitely more active than that of the Resident Evil game. It seemed like it was a rushed add on, to say the least, and showed a bit of laziness on Capcom’s part. The graphics, however, of Resident Evil definitely trump that of the L4D series. But if you had to determine which should have the throne as the best zombie shooting game, it would definitely have to be Left 4 Dead 2, it simply has more enjoyment to be had and a more robust multiplayer experience.
