Killzone 3 Announced, Full 3D Support

Killzone 2
Killzone 3 has officially been announced, with the added incentive of full 3D support.
A while back, Jack Tretton, the PlayStation president, was asked whether or not we would see a sequel to Killzone 2 at this years E3 video game convention. While he did not confirm it, he did promise that it was coming, and promised that Sony would definitely “bring the heat” to theĀ convention.
In a recent issue of Gamepro, some exciting details regarding the game were released. Talk of machine gun mounted jet packs, improved melee combat and full support for 3D. These jetpacks are said to be a major feature of Killzone 3. Being shot while using one will cause your character to meet their demise in a firey explosion. They can be used by both the players and the Helghast, and allow for a new dimension of gameplay experience. There will also be obstacles built within to the map or environment that you are playing in, which will require the strategic use of the jetpack.
The setting is supposedly now taking place within arctic environments. The Helghast are also said to be getting more of a personality this time around. A common critique of the Helghast character is that they are extremely bland. Adding depth to these characters may allow for a better enjoyed single player campaign experience.
The 3d effects are said to be intense and are supposed to make up a lot of the games appeal. According to Destructoid, there is a major doubt that the video games of this current generation can not support the technology. This is a fairly big endeavor being made by the developers of Killzone 3. If they do succeed in properly implementing 3D into this first person shooter, they may easily revolutionize the genre and actually start a trend for many FPS games to come.
Expect to see Killzone 3 showcase their attempt at full 3D support in this years E3.
