Infinity Ward Blames Activision For High Modern Warfare 2 DLC Price

The Modern Warfare 2 stimulus pack is set to be released next week with five new maps being released. But amongst such turmoil between Infinity Ward and Activision, who is to blame for the seemingly outrageous price?

Apparently, the founders of Infinity Ward were recently fired due to claims of withheld royalties by Activision and insubordination. Although there has been lawsuits managed and things have been hectic since the release of Modern Warfare 2, Robert Bowling, the Infinity Ward Community Manager, says that it has not made much of an impact on the team.

He states that their main focus as a development team is this pack, and their focus is on making quality video games. However, even the Stimulus Map Pack has brought controversy for its 1200 Microsoft Points code. That translates to about $15 out of your pocket for 3 new maps and two returns from Call of Duty 4. This stimulus map pack is set for release on March 30th for the Xbox 360 and for April 30th for the PlayStation 3. This package contains Bailout, Storm, Salvage, Crash and Overgrown.

Although this 328 MB map pack is being sold for $15, Bowling claims that this is not over priced, although Activision is the one who sets the package price. The maps were said to have been designed to answer to the calls and criticisms of several gamers.  Some maps were designed to prevent players from camping in spots and sniping, while others were made to bring a new environmental flavor to the multiplayer aspect of the game.

When Robert Bowling was asked whether or not more maps would be ported from Call of Duty 4, he claimed that they might not make a proper transition into the new Modern Warfare 2. This is a pretty true claim actually, because with the infinite running that people do now, thanks to the mass amount of perks included in MW2, it would become too hectic. Imagine wetworks in the new game, with the perks that are available now, it might be more annoying to play in now, due to all the havoc a stealh bomber and attack helicopter would create.

For those of you who will decide to actually purchase the Modern Warfare 2 stimulus map pack for the Xbox 360, be sure to keep your eyes out for March 30th when it is officially released.
