Geometry Wars 2, Best Xbox Live Arcade Game Available

Geometry Wars 2
Geometry Wars 2 is possibly one of the best Xbox Live Arcade titles to be released to date. A multidirectional shooter created by Bizarre Creations, it manages to grasp your attention with a display of intense shooting and amazing visuals.
You would think that an Xbox Live Arcade titles, usually being a budget title, is something not worth playing. Why spend $10 or $20 ( 800 and 1600 microsoft points, respectively) on a short lived game when you can spend a full $60 on a game that may last you months or years on end. But this particular video game is not the same as other budget titles, per say. It has to be one of the most successful franchises to grace the XBLA for quite some time now.
So to explain a bit of the gameplay mechanics, it is a multidirectional shooter as stated before. You look at a grid from a top-down view , and you are a small graphic on that grid. You are able to move around with your left analog stick and you aim and shoot by moving your right analog stick. It seems, and may sound like a confusing interface at first, but it makes sense for the type of gameplay you will encounter. You also can press the right analog button in order to use a bomb that will detonate and destroy all enemies on the screen.
Sounds simple, right? The beauty of this gameplay comes from the visuals and intense gameplay however. The amount of enemies that can be thrown at you at once is astounding. On one occasion, I was in the middle of the screen with three black holes entangling one another. In a spectacular display, all of the green enemies were sucked up into the spinning trio of black holes, and an explosion occurred that sent little blue anomalies hurdling towards me. The way it looks is nothing short of amazing, and it can be really intense for you.
The great selling point of this game is that the gameplay really makes you want to continue beating your high score. It can be a very addictive game and it is not even violent. For those of you Xbox 360 owners who get hassled by your parents for playing violent video games constantly, simply pop this game in and watch them be speechless. There is nothing violent about this game, there is no blood, no gore, no humans in fact.
This game does have a sort of career mode that has you complete a set of errands or go through a set of stages in order to advance to the next level. But the beauty definitely comes from the survival mode of sorts, where you are set to survive hordes of enemies, while amassing the most amount of points you can, for like 5 minutes or so.
I definitely recommend that all Xbox 360 owners at least try the Geometry War 2 trial game, and then consider purchasing it for a modest sum of Microsoft Points. The video game is seriously that good, give it a try.
