Dead Space 2 Updated Strategic Dismemberment System

Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2

The original Dead Space made great use of their strategic dismemberment system which some proved to be sort of unhelpful. However, in the sequel, Steve Papoutsis, the Executive producer, assures us that it will be both useful and fun to make use of now.

Kotaku spoke with Papoutsis where he asked about the original games strategic dismemberment system. So far, Dead Space 2 has been fairly concealed in terms of information. However, he did offer an interesting answer that will be sure to please the original fans. He stated that the strategic dismemberment system is still in effect, and you can do more with their limbs once they are cut off.

Papoutsis goes on to describe that you, as the character, will slice off a limb with the slasher blade, then use telekinesis and shoot the blade at your enemy, nailing them to the wall. So now, when you run out of ammo, you are able to go hunt for some limbs. This was a big issue in Dead Space, running out of ammo that is. This was a pretty creative solution to the problem and offers a new experience to be have.

So now, you can expect more dismemberment and creative use of limbs to be had in the upcoming Dead Space 2 game.
