Visceral Gamers is bringing out Dead Space 2 multiplayer details, revealing four-on-four Necromorph versus human Sprawl Security Team member.

Scott Probst, Dead Space 2 producers, gave a few details on the Dead Space 2′s new multiplayer aspect. You will have the opportunity to play either as a Necromorph or as one of the four members of the Sprawl Security Team. You will have to complete objects in five different locations with the goal of clearing all threats in the area.

Players who are lucky enough to be one of the Necromorph will have the option of playing as either The Pack, The Lurker, The Spitter or The Puker. These four creatures each will have a distinct play style and have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Both sides will have a level progression system in which you get experience to unlock new weapons, skins, upgrades and powers specific to each Necromorph.

Gamers are having mixed responses to this news. It is assumed that the only reason that Visceral Gamers even started a multiplayer mode was because of coercion by EA. The multiplayer portion seems a bit like Left 4 Dead’s online play; zombies being analogous to necromorphs that is.

From the footage of the multiplayer portion that has been shown, the gameplay seems to be very solid and satisfactory to the standards that  the prequel has set. The necromorphs each will have a play style that is tailored to their character type and the elements of fear and surprise have been retained.

As long as Visceral Games gives enough effort in making the the Dead Space 2 multiplayer, fans will stay happy.
