Keiji Inafune, the mastermind of some of Capcom’s biggest video game titles, is now in charge of the company’s global head of production.

Inafune says that it’s common to hear that games created in Europe are not true Capcom games. However, the games created in Japan are considered the true Capcom games. This rift in quality throughout the games being created is what he aims to address.  He stated that he wants to put an end to that, and give every game that they create a Capcom flavor that the fans will know and love.

To accomplish this task, Keiji Inafune was named the Capcom global head of production, quite the accomplishment. The man behind Mega Man, Dead Rising and Onimusha, certainly deserves nothing less than this title. He has fathered one of the greatest, or at least most renown, games in the video game industry, being the Mega Man franchise.

Inafune states that he wants people to know that he is overseeing every part of Capcom development, so a unified vision can be found in every video game title regardless of area of creation. Capcom recently states how they wanted their games to appeal to a greater and more diverse audience, which is believed to be achieveable with Inafune as the head of production.

He says that he is very serious about making global games on a global scale, especially when considering America and Europe while designing a lot of the titles. He pushed hard for the past couple of years to gear out the games in that direction. But the issue was that some of the studios and teams did not have one unified direction. To help Inafune communicate with developers in other countries, he hired Shinji Futami to serve as his speaker (to convey his emotions, ideas and philosophy) for the US.

This is a smart move by Capcom. Keiji Inafune has a large fan base following due to the success of his Mega Man series, and he certainly is experience enough to know what he is doing and be able to tell what the mainstream video game audience likes. Capcom will most likely see a great improvement in the quality of their games with Keiji Inafune as the global head of production.
