Call of Duty: Black Ops “Combat Training” Mode

Call of Duty: Black Ops
Treyarch will be introducing multiplayer matches that include AI opponents into Call of Duty: Black Ops, the latest game in the COD series. Combat Training, what the mode is called, is designed to familiarize the players with the many maps that this game offers while offering them useful training before entering the highly competitive multiplayer world.
There is a large segment of Call of Duty players that will never take the game online, whether it is due to difficulty or lack of interest. “Combat Training” is designed to help new players become used to the maps and match structure of online play, while offering a challenge to mid-level or veteran players.
Mark Lamia, CEO of Treyarch, stated that Combat Training will be a complete standalone experience. It can hold other live players as well as bots.
This is receiving a lot of flak from potential fans of the series already. Many people are worried that this new independent progression system will only lead to further and worse exploitation from unfair players. But regardless of what the current mindset of the gaming community is, regarding this game, I am pretty impressed with Treyarch’s attempt at differentiating the game this time around, instead of blatantly copying Infinity Ward and adding little content.
Call of Duty: Black Ops’ Combat Training mode is a great idea, and should actually become the standard for shooting games. When playing online, you will often find that you will be at a horrid disadvantage when you are new, for the simple fact that you do not know where the enemy spawn points are, where the usual camping spots are, or how to navigate the map. This mode is a great way to familiarize a person with the maps before getting online and getting a crash course in map navigation. COD: Black Ops may actually attract some of the fans that swore to leave the series after Infinity Ward was largely dispersed.
This mode will have its own progression system, to keep players form exploiting the bots for advancement and currency in the game’s new Call of Duty Points system. COD: Black Ops’ Combat Training mode is probably the best idea I have seen from Treyarch in quite a while.

Do we know yet if it will be possible for people to use combat training offline like if say i dont have internet?
i hope we will be able to. like split-screen, but than better. or with lan networks.
Combat Training is best Treyarch decision, because it will feature split-screen mode, as well as ability to play with bots online. Player will be able to choose bots level (recruit, regular, hardened or veteran), so it will be perfect to learn basics, other game features, and get ready and be competitive for multiplayer. Call of Duty Black Ops will be most interesting game, it will deliver new winds for FPS games. Officially left to wait: 11 days, 5 hours, 35 minutes, 20 seconds from now. – PLEASE WAIT -
do u have to be online or not?
You do not have to be online, this supports offline co-op, if I’m not mistaken.
do you know if we can have multiple people to play this mode? like if i have a friend over and we can play with 2 people?
you must be online to do this mode
NO! played it and there’s no offline training mode or such thing, zombies yes, training no. I guess it’s in the “xbox live” section of the menu which i cant check.
Damn I am so excited for COD Black OPS to come out this week….wooohooo!
There is a large segment of Call of Duty players that will never take the game online, whether it is due to difficulty or lack of interest. how retarded are these creators at infinity ward. i know 5 people with this game series who do not play this game because we do not have fucking high speed internet.
so, to get this straight if i dnt hav gold membership i cant play combat training. also will there be a currency system in combat training.
There is no such thing, at least in my version! Which sucks because I bought it to play with my mates offline. What BS! And zombies suck!not a great release for the call of duty series I’m afraid!
someone please give me a definite answer to whether or not i have to be online as in connected to the internet with live, to play the campaign training mode?
Can’t speak for other platforms, but you WILL *NOT* be able to play the Combat Training mode on an Xbox 360 unless you are connected to Xbox Live and have a Gold subscription.
Yes, this is from my own from experience and yes, this does suck.
i think it is pointless that they have created an offline mode but yet u have to be online it doesnt make sence as to y they have called it offline there are some people who like to play the online game mode but cant so it would of been suitable for people who arnt live i mean come on you can play aggainst bots on gears of war so infanity ward are obviously not as clever as epic urrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.petitiononline.com/codboct/petition.html join the petition to make call of duty black ops’s combat training offline
I think that they should have put on an offline co-op missions, there is nothing better than have a budy over to play the latest game and he has to sit there and watch you play the missions. the zombie game is ok I guess, but I would have much rather been shooting it out with the enemies and running around blowing stuff up. I guess we will not be playing this game with the guys come over, borderlands it is.
Man that sucks i was buying that game just for that multiplayer combat training now i dont know if i cant play offline with my buds why the heck would i buy it. ughhh
WOW…now off line training. just rented black ops as a preview to decide weather or not to but it. and 1st thing i player was the training..WAY COOL…{I thought
}…. and then tried it off line… wouldnt work.. SUCKS!!! what were they thinking?
I have so much xbox stuff… I dont get why they would do this to us people who are loyal and apre are xbox’s…
SHAME
now u can do combat trainng offline
it does have offline combat training but you have to download the patch…you can use torrent =)
i found this thing the other day if you go to splitscreen and select the game options, it has a label “enemies” and should say disabled move it to a number like 9, than start a game and you will be versing 9 enemies
i like combat training becuz u git more xp points o and add me as your freind on live at killertute28
I thought you could play offline. All you have to do is go to the online menu, (not play online), and set the game options to how many dummies you want and how many friends. By the way, I can’t even find the screen that says combat training. where can I find that?
bioblade gets it
