BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Multiplayer Impression

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

I have been an owner of Arc System Works latest 2d fighting game, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, for quite a while. But only today have I played over Xbox Live, so here are my multiplayer impressions.

First off, I must say that the BlazBlue multiplayer over Xbox Live is incredibly stable, even if you are playing with someone from half way across the world. You will see a bit of choppy frame rate during the waiting screen, but once the gameplay is in session, you will see nothing but smooth frame rate. This is good, because it is extremely hard to play a fighting game when it is lagging all over the place. But while there is a stable framerate, there is controller lag. I guess there is not a way to completely remove lag when playing from long distances, but the lag you will encounter online is quite minimum. But the times you do encounter it, as I said, there may be 1 second button lag.

But when you are not in lag, you can expect the game play to be as fun as you like it. When playing ranked matches, you notice a level system. The more people you beat, the higher your level will become. My brother did not have BlazBlue originally, and would play at his friends house, until I bought it for him one day. Within the first 10 minutes, he was level 20 from beating so many high leveled people online. But that is just because he is extremely good at the game, maybe not the best, but certainly one of the best.

The learning curve to this game is pretty steep if you are not a heavy fighting game player. The people I see on this game are extremely skilled, and as good as my brother is, he tends to get beat quite a lot, depending on who the character is. It may ruin any enjoyment you have in the game, if losing matches hurts you that much. Just know that, if you are new to the game or even relatively new, there will be people who can perfect you with ease. It has been done to me, and even my brother on occasion. But over all, BlazBlue has to be one of the best games available on the Xbox 360. My BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger impressions of the multiplayer are nothing but good, and I recommend the game to those of you who are into fighting games.
