Best MMORPG of 2010: Vindictus
Vindictus, a dungeon based massively multiplayer online role-playing game, is one of the latest additions to Nexon’s library. It also turns out to be one of the best online games of the year 2010.
Vindictus is a game that does not mimic the standard that World of Warcraft has set. Instead, it goes with the seldom ventured dungeon based gameplay system. In this game, you do not travel throughout a vast open world, dispatching monsters on the way to your destination or spontaneously finding and completing quests. Instead, a more linear approach is taken and much of the quests are clearly given within the main town. In order to fight any monsters, you will have to take a ship to the map you wish to fight at, then you must clear the whole map, or dungeon as some call it, before you receive any experience, items or credit.
The reason why this method works so well with Vindictus is because of the heavy use of physics within this game. You will see moments when an enemy rams into a stone pillar only to be incapacitated by the debris afterward. You can also pick up debris from fallen pillars or the environment and bash your enemies with it for added damage. All of this works together to add a sense of strategy within a game that allows you to hack and slash your way to victory.
The gameplay is spot on for heavy action-adventure genre lovers. You have a set of heavy attacks and you have a set of light attacks. You can link both of these attacks together to form long strings of attacks that pack a punch with the last hit in the combination. You also are equipped with a set of skills that you can level up to add that extra flare to your attacks. You will find that each of the characters are tailored toward a specific fighting style. The swordsman is great at flurries and crowd control with his dual swords. The shield-and-sword wielding woman is great at one on one fights, being able to use her deadly counter to down an enemy. Evie, the sorcerer, is great at crowd control as well, being able to use her fire-blast skill to defeat her enemies in one shot. When all of these characters come together within a party, you may find that it almost seems that they were made to work in unison. As the shield-touting woman grabs the attention of the boss, you may find Evie and the dual-wielding swordsman mercilessly hacking away at the life of the boss.
This game also comes with a great deal of content. The level cap at the moment is 44 and it is rising with successive updates to the game. There are titles that one’s character can attain by completing the pre-requisites required. These titles will permanently bolster the character’s attributes in question, which is useful for those who plan on pvp’ing at later levels. There is a plethora of quests to keep a character busy and to sail you through your levels with ease, for those who do not like grinding through a dungeon. For the more hardcore MMORPG player, you can grind certain bosses for items that are exclusive to only that boss, which may vary in color or attributes. Needless to say, this game will not have any trouble trying to keep you entertained.
Vindictus certainly has the approval of SleepyGamer as the best MMORPG of 2010. This visually stunning game offers a refreshing take on an mmorpg that is seldom attempted by many other companies. If you are interested in joining Vindictus, be sure to visit the website promptly.

Vindictus is a whole new approach to MMO’s graphic-wise.
It feels like you’re playing God of War on a computer and with millions of other players, which makes Vindictus one of the greatest MMO’s I’ever played. Good choice Sleepygamers.
I should warn you Shawn. This game is a DRUG. You get addicted easily. It is sooooooo fun!!!
Love this game
This game really opened a whole new way of game-playing.
Beware though.. You can not play this game hardcore unless you put money into it.. The only way to do the dungeons is to pay with tokens which you only get a set amount that is refilled 3x a week.. This is more of a casual play MMORPG
