Sony Bringing PlayStation 3 Hackers to Court

The PlayStation 3 has recently had a major security breech at the hands of a hacking group, fail0verflow, and famed iPhone hacker George “GeoHot” Hotz; to which Sony said they would fix via network updates. These new hacks would allow for any owner of the PS3 to run unsigned code on their system, which leads to piracy and homebrew. However, instead of releasing said “network update” as promised, they are filing for a restraining order against the hackers.

The Younger Generation of Gamers

The more advanced the technology being implemented in video games, the further we tend to stray from the type of games that created the video game industry. The younger generation of gamers play games in which there is a friendly learning curve, everything is spelled out for them, and platforming and strategy is at a minimum. Oh retro gamers, what do you think is necessary for the gaming experience of a modern day gamer?

Red Dead Redemption multiplayer, or rather the brains of Rockstar Games, never cease to amaze me. The multiplayer aspect of this cowboy third-person shooting game manages to mesh both action and strategy into one tasty soup for gamers to devour.

PlayStation 3: Sony versus Hackers

The PlayStation 3 has recently been cracked by a group of Wii hacking fame. They exposed the ease with which one can retrieve the root key of the system, which would easily allow homebrew and pirated games to be played, similar to the Wii. Sony, however, has recently vowed to fix the issue via a firmware update. However, is it actually worth fixing? Which side of the fence is the right side, the hackers who merely want freedom on the console, or Sony who stripped the console of many of its beloved features.
