Assassin’s Creed Sequel To Have Full Campaign with Justified Multiplayer

Assassin's Creed II
At the DICE convention earlier, during the Interactive Achievement Awards, two of the top creators for the Assassin’s Creed series decided to give a little insight on what to expect from the sequel.
Patrice Desilets, the Ubisoft creative director, and Corey May, the series lead writer, were there to accept Assassin’s Creed’s nine nominations as well as hope for the win. The next Assassin’s Creed is expected to be the first in the series to be including multiplayer, and has been said to have Ezio return to Rome. It will hone a full single-player campaign as well as a multiplayer implementation that has “narrative justification”. For those of you who do not understand that, it simply means that there will be a multiplayer mode that actually makes sense and pertains to the storyline, instead of having a tacked on and rushed mode.
Ubisoft Montreal is taking up the task of developing the sequel and the game is slated for release by the end of March 2011. The reason that Assassin’s Creed is able to see a sequel so soon is because the technology required for the second release took a full year to complete, so now the sequel is expected to have a much smoother development.
Assassin’s Creed went on to not win any awards, losing out to Uncharted 2 in many of the categories they were both nominated for. However, they may have a chance to take the award next year with Assassin’s Creed III.
