Randy Pitchford of Gearbox Software gave a few screenshots of Aliens Colonial Marines at the Gearbox PAX panel to assure that this game is still alive and underdevelopment.
Aliens Colonial Marines is an Alien shooter that was announced years ago but largely kept in secret. This game is about becoming a Colonial Marine and looking at it from their perspective. It was said that these marines were actually the template for the troopers who fought with Master Chief in the Halo games. This game’s development was slowed due to focus on Borderlands, as well as subsequent DLC.
Pitchford said that his studio is working with 20th Century Fox, the Aliens movie studio, and Sega to bring the project back up to speed. He was unable to give a specific date for launch or any specific details on the game.
This comes as a great surprise to many gamers. Many of the “vaporware” titles that are associated with Gearbox have either risen from the dead or been teased in one way or another. Many gamers are glad for this upcoming Aliens Colonial Marines game, stating that it is going to be a major step up from the mess of a game that Aliens vs Predator was.
Gearbox, please do the title justice and push out a proper Aliens game!
