Alien vs. Predator Xbox Live Impressions

Alien vs Predator
The Alien vs. Predator multiplayer demo, by Rebellion Developments, has been released on Xbox Live for public use, in the form of an intense fast paced first person shooter of high quality.
The graphics in Alien vs. Predator are of high quality. You are placed in a dark and gritty world to match an environment fit for the battle between human, predator and aliens. Lights are scattered throughout the whole level, in the demo, that are able to be broken to allow for a darker area. Humans can make use of flashlights on their gun in order to find aliens or predators that may be cloaking themselves in the darkness. The textures are high resolution so you will not notice much clipping of any sort, and there is a bit of motion blur placed within the game to add an extra sense of realism.
The characters that are playable are humans, predators or aliens. Each of the different classes have their benefits and drawbacks, which allow for balanced game play. Starting off with the alien character, one of my favorites, you are gifted with immense speed and the ability to scale up walls. Scale up walls, you may wonder? That means you can crawl up walls and walk and run on them as you would on regular surface. You are able to hiss to create a sense of fear in your enemies, and it actually does work well. On one occasion, I saw a human from afar, and he saw me. So I ran back into the previous room, ran onto the ceiling with the lights in the room broken, and lured him in here with hissing. He used his flashlight in an attempt to reveal my location, but I just sprinted behind him, hopped off the ceiling, grabbed him from behind and shoved my tentacle through his chest and moved onto the next target.
While the aliens are fun, their natural killer, the predator may attract a whole new set of players. Predators are able to go

invisible as they have been seen to do in the movies. But once you attack or are attacked, your cloak dissipates. You are also able to use a different sight, a heat seeker of sorts, in order to be able to see your enemies easier. In hand to hand combat, you will notice that the predator wins most of the time, whether it be with an alien or human. Predators are gifted with a faster heavy attack, that will quail most of the people, most of the time.
Humans, as stated previously, have the flashlight in order to be able to reveal the location of the enemies, while also sort of revealing their location as well. If a Predator is invisible, the light will reflect through their body in an awkward manner which makes them visible, and if it is an alien, they can be spotted easily. You have the ability to find new weapons, I believe, I am not sure, however, because I do not use Humans. But I have been killed by multiple weapons, as well as by land mines it seems.
Each class have the ability to focus, or target, a specific enemy at a time, which can be useful when going up against a group of people at once, which happens often. Also, by holding both light and heavy attack buttons, you will be able to block against light attacks, while being hurt by heavy attacks still. At times, when hit or executing a heavy attack, you will knock the opponent down and be able to have the option to grab them. At which case you may pick them up by the head and take advantage of them. During this time, people will be able to steal your kill while still leaving you vulnerable, so knowing when to grab is a strategy on its own.

Alien vs Predator
The Alien vs. Predator Xbox Live demo only comes with one playable map and one playable mode, so not much other input or impressions can be made on the gameplay or its characters. One thing I wish was implemented in the game would be a kill-cam of sorts, so you can know how you die. Because at times, you will be grabbed or killed out of no where and you will wonder how it was done. Also, it adds a sense of bragging when you view the awesome ways you have been killed by enemies. It would also be cool if the aliens would be able to shoot acid at enemies, although I do not know if that is a common action of the Alien, since I have not seen the movie in quite a while. That would be my only suggestion, however. This game has awesome attention to detail. As an alien, when you are coming to bite upon a target, whether it be a health machine or an enemy, you will see your mouth engulf the screen and slowly come down to a chomp on your target.
Alien vs. Predator multiplayer is a treat to play, especially for those of you who are fans of the franchise. Each player will have a taste for gameplay that can only be achieved by the character of choice. I personally usually go for the characters that are as stealthy as possible, which can be executed perfectly by the Alien, which is a great feat. Hopefully, the developers will get good feedback from the AvP community and may release a sequel some where down in the line. I believe they had to tone down the gore in fear of ESRB, but maybe there can be an option for it some where down the line as well. In any case, with or without the intense gore, Alien vs. Predator is an amazing and high quality video game that deserves to be tried.
I definitely recommend that those of you who are looking for a new first person shooter to play pick Alien vs. Predator up, as it has left great impressions on me and most likely thousands of people who have played it as well.
