APB Beta Starts Next Week

APB Beta

Realtime Worlds upcoming mmo, APB, is going to be releasing its own beta next week. The APB beta has been in talks for quite a while now, and I am not yet sure about how long it will stay in beta. But I do know that the beta is starting, officially, next week and will be open to those whom are emailed to be accepted as beta testers.

For those of you who are confused right now, as to what APB (or the full name, All Points Bulletin) is, it is simply going to be one of the most popular mmo games to come out. The game designer is David Jones, who is said to be the father of the Grand Theft Auto series, as well as helping create Crackdown. On multiple occasions, this game has been said to resemble Grand Theft Auto in gameplay style and characters, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

One could say that having similar elements makes the development team lazy, or that they are pretty much copying off of Grand Theft Auto. When you have one of the creators of the original Grand Theft Auto, all of that can go flying out the window, because the man obviously knows what he is doing. This is shaping up to be a massively multiplayer online Grand Theft Auto, the kind people hoped for and wanted to appear in GTA4. I am not sure, but I believe it was 1000 players per world and 100 players per city? That is a pretty hefty amount, considering you have pedestrians walking in the street and constant crime going on.

Realtime Worlds have been surveying for APB beta testers for quite a while now. Even I signed myself up for it, in hopes of being able to experience this amazing game before it manages to reach the public. I have not been accepted yet, however. But most likely one of you, the readers, will be accepted to the beta test, so if you are, be sure to send me your impressions and feelings about what you have heard.

If you are wondering what makes this game so amazing, it is the premise and elements that make it stand out. It is a world in which you are either a criminal or a cop. Criminals get to commit crimes, and when they do, the cops are called to the scene to partake in a fire fight or to pursue the enemy. That alone makes it fun, having a cops and robbers theme to the game as a base. Not only that, but there is an incredible amount of character customization. From the hair on your face, to the height of your character, to the style in which  he dresses. As you play, you may begin to level up, and get access to new items such as clothing and gloves. When you see a high level character, you will be able to tell, because they really stand out and look badass while being unique at the same time.

There are also multiple modes to be revealed that you can play, including the general deathmatch and some more exciting modes. This may be the game that gets me back into gaming on my computer. I have not touched a game that is not an rpg in ages. If you are interested, you should make sure you sign up to the APB beta on the official website, so you can have a chance at entering and winning.
