Infinity Ward has been making it clear as of late that they have no plans on releasing a Modern Warfare 2 demo. Regardless of how popular the Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Call of Duty World at War demos went, it seems that Infinity Ward does not think it to be necessary to release one.
The Infinity Ward development team said that they have no plans for a demo before launch simply because they believe in polishing the game all the way up to the due date of the retail game. There will be no beta for this game either, though beta and demo go hand in hand now a days. While this may seem like a legitimate excuse to some of you, this is pretty much their way of saying that they do not feel like preparing a demo and they know it will sell well anyway.
That is not necessarily a bad thing, because you can surely expect to get a quality game from Infinity Ward, whether they release a demo or not, but it would help tide us over until then. A Modern Warfare 2 demo would definitely see thousands of downloads within hours of the release, and would surely convince the very few, who are still on the fences, to buy the game at launch. I personally took part in the Call of Duty World at War demo, and I am personally glad I did, because it helped me realize that I definitely did not want to buy the game. That game did not appeal to me what-so-ever. But seeing all the new features and that trademark Call of Duty 4 look, I think a demo would have done good for Modern Warfare 2.
But the Infinity Ward team seems dead against a Modern Warfare 2 Demo release anyway.
